Ingredients
- 12 oz spaghetti
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 jar (24 oz) marinara sauce
- 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes, undrained
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1 cup ricotta cheese
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Fresh basil, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
- Cook spaghetti according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet, cook ground beef, onion, and garlic over medium heat until the beef is browned and the onions are translucent. Drain excess fat.
- Stir in marinara sauce, diced tomatoes, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes.
- In the prepared baking dish, spread a thin layer of the meat sauce. Layer half of the cooked spaghetti over the sauce.
- Spread half of the ricotta cheese over the spaghetti, followed by half of the remaining meat sauce. Sprinkle with 1 cup of mozzarella cheese.
- Repeat layers with the remaining spaghetti, ricotta cheese, meat sauce, and mozzarella cheese.
- Sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese on top.
- Cover the dish with foil and bake for 20 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Garnish with fresh basil before serving.
Notes
- For extra flavor, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the meat sauce.
- This casserole can be assembled ahead of time and baked just before serving.
