This Classic Italian Lasagna features layers of savory meat sauce, creamy ricotta, mozzarella, and Parmesan cheeses, all separated by tender sheets of pasta, baked to bubbly perfection.
Ingredients
- 9 lasagna noodles
- 1 lb ground beef
- 2 cups marinara sauce
- 1 cup ricotta cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 egg
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cook lasagna noodles according to package instructions; drain.
- In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add onion and garlic; sauté until soft. Add ground beef; cook until browned. Stir in marinara sauce, basil, and oregano. Simmer for 10 minutes.
- In a bowl, mix ricotta cheese, egg, salt, and pepper.
- In a baking dish, layer noodles, meat sauce, ricotta mixture, and mozzarella cheese. Repeat layers, ending with noodles topped with meat sauce and Parmesan cheese.
- Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes or until cheese is golden and bubbly.
Notes
- For a vegetarian version, substitute ground beef with a mix of vegetables such as mushrooms, zucchini, and spinach.
- Let the lasagna rest for 10 minutes before serving to hold its shape better.
