Ingredients

  • 2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ cup sour cream


Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Mix in the egg, vanilla extract, and sour cream until smooth.
  • Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients, mixing until a soft dough forms.
  • Roll out dough on a floured surface to about ¼-inch thickness and cut into shapes.
  • Place cookies on prepared baking sheets and bake for 8–10 minutes, or until edges are just lightly golden.
  • Cool on baking sheets for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  • Optional: Frost and decorate as desired.
