It's a crowd-pleasing side dish that’s perfect for holiday meals like Thanksgiving or Christmas, but it's easy enough to prepare for any family dinner. The green beans, creamy mushroom soup, and crunchy onion topping combine for a texture-rich, flavorful experience.

Ingredients

  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
  • ¾ cup milk
  • 1 lb fresh or frozen green beans, trimmed
  • 1 ½ cups crispy fried onions
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the cream of mushroom soup, milk, soy sauce, salt, and pepper. Stir in the green beans and 1 cup of fried onions.
  • Transfer the mixture to a baking dish.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes, until bubbly.
  • Sprinkle the remaining ½ cup of fried onions on top and bake for an additional 5 minutes, until onions are golden and crispy.

Notes

For a twist, use fresh mushrooms sautéed in butter for extra richness. You can also add cheese or bacon for a more indulgent version.
