Description

This Pizza Grilled Cheese recipe combines the best of both worlds—gooey grilled cheese and the savory flavors of pizza. Featuring melty mozzarella, pepperoni, and marinara sauce sandwiched between crispy, buttery bread, this easy-to-make sandwich is perfect for lunch or a quick dinner. It’s a crowd-pleaser for kids and adults alike!

Ingredients

  • 2 slices of bread (sourdough or Italian)
  • 2 tablespoons butter, softened
  • ¼ cup marinara or pizza sauce
  • ½ cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 8-10 slices of pepperoni
  • 1 tablespoon grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
  • Italian seasoning (optional)

Instructions

  • Heat a skillet over medium heat.
  • Butter one side of each slice of bread.
  • Spread a thin layer of marinara sauce on the unbuttered side of each slice.
  • Sprinkle mozzarella cheese evenly over the sauce.
  • Layer the pepperoni slices on top of the cheese.
  • Close the sandwich with the other slice of bread, buttered side out.
  • Place the sandwich in the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes on each side, until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
  • Optional: Sprinkle Parmesan cheese and Italian seasoning on the outside of the sandwich before cooking for extra flavor.
  • Slice and serve hot with extra marinara sauce for dipping.

Notes

For a vegetarian option, omit the pepperoni or substitute with your favorite pizza toppings like mushrooms or olives.
