Ingredients
- 2 slices of bread (sourdough or Italian)
- 2 tablespoons butter, softened
- ¼ cup marinara or pizza sauce
- ½ cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
- 8-10 slices of pepperoni
- 1 tablespoon grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
- Italian seasoning (optional)
Instructions
- Heat a skillet over medium heat.
- Butter one side of each slice of bread.
- Spread a thin layer of marinara sauce on the unbuttered side of each slice.
- Sprinkle mozzarella cheese evenly over the sauce.
- Layer the pepperoni slices on top of the cheese.
- Close the sandwich with the other slice of bread, buttered side out.
- Place the sandwich in the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes on each side, until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
- Optional: Sprinkle Parmesan cheese and Italian seasoning on the outside of the sandwich before cooking for extra flavor.
- Slice and serve hot with extra marinara sauce for dipping.
