Description

This apple crumble pie recipe combines a sweet, spiced apple filling with a buttery crumble topping. Made with fresh apples, cinnamon, sugar, and a crisp oat topping, this pie is the perfect dessert for fall or any occasion. Serve warm with a scoop of ice cream for a truly comforting treat. Keywords: Apple Crumble Pie, apple pie with crumble topping, easy apple dessert, fall pie recipe.

Ingredients

  • Pie Crust: 1 pre-made pie crust (store-bought or homemade)
  • Apple Filling:
    • 6 cups peeled and sliced apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
    • ¾ cup granulated sugar
    • 1 tsp cinnamon
    • ¼ tsp nutmeg
    • 2 tbsp flour
    • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • Crumble Topping:
    • ½ cup flour
    • ½ cup old-fashioned oats
    • ⅓ cup brown sugar
    • ¼ cup granulated sugar
    • ½ tsp cinnamon
    • ¼ tsp salt
    • 6 tbsp unsalted butter, cold and cubed

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Prepare the crust: Roll out the pie crust and fit it into a 9-inch pie dish. Trim and crimp the edges. Set aside.
  • Make the apple filling: In a large bowl, toss the sliced apples with sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, flour, and lemon juice until well coated. Transfer the mixture into the prepared pie crust.
  • Prepare the crumble topping: In a medium bowl, combine flour, oats, brown sugar, granulated sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Cut in the cold butter with a pastry cutter or fork until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Add the topping: Sprinkle the crumble mixture evenly over the apples.
  • Bake for 45-50 minutes, until the apples are tender and the topping is golden and crisp. If the crust or topping starts to brown too quickly, cover the pie loosely with foil.
  • Cool for at least 30 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Use a combination of tart and sweet apples for balanced flavor (e.g., Granny Smith and Honeycrisp).
  • Serve warm with vanilla ice cream for the ultimate dessert experience.
