Description

This apple dapple cake is a moist and flavorful dessert loaded with fresh apples and topped with a rich caramel glaze. It's the perfect cozy treat for fall, blending spiced cake with tender apple chunks. Great for gatherings, holiday dinners, or a comforting homemade treat.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups apples, peeled and diced
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)

For the Caramel Glaze:

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup milk

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking pan.
  • In a large bowl, mix oil, sugar, and eggs until smooth. Add flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon, stirring to combine.
  • Fold in diced apples and nuts (if using).
  • Pour batter into the prepared pan and bake for 50–60 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  • While the cake cools, make the glaze by melting butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Add brown sugar and milk, stirring until smooth. Bring to a boil, then simmer for 2–3 minutes.
  • Pour warm caramel glaze over the cooled cake before serving.

Notes

  • Any variety of apple works well; tart apples like Granny Smith are especially flavorful.
  • Serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an extra treat!
