Brown Butter Pecan Pie Bars are a delicious twist on the classic pecan pie. Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter (for browning)
  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup powdered sugar
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ¾ cup light brown sugar (packed)
  • ½ cup maple syrup
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 ½ cups pecans (chopped)

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 9x13 inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  • In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat, stirring constantly until it turns golden brown and has a nutty aroma. Set aside to cool slightly.
  • In a medium bowl, mix flour, powdered sugar, and salt. Add half of the browned butter and combine until a crumbly dough forms. Press the dough into the bottom of the prepared pan and bake for 15 minutes or until lightly golden.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the remaining brown butter, brown sugar, maple syrup, eggs, and vanilla extract. Stir in chopped pecans.
  • Pour the pecan mixture over the baked crust and bake for 25-30 minutes until the filling is set and the top is golden.
  • Let the bars cool completely before slicing into squares.

Notes

  • For a deeper flavor, use dark brown sugar instead of light.
