Description

This Cheesy Hamburger Rice Casserole is a comforting, one-dish meal that combines ground beef, rice, and cheese into a deliciously savory dinner option. It's easy to prepare and sure to be a hit with families.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup uncooked white rice
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 can (14.5 ounces) diced tomatoes, undrained
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven:

    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cook Ground Beef:

    • In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef with the chopped onion and minced garlic until the meat is browned and the onions are translucent. Drain any excess grease.
  3. Combine Ingredients:

    • Add the uncooked rice, beef broth, diced tomatoes with their juice, paprika, oregano, salt, and pepper to the skillet. Stir well to combine.
  4. Transfer to Baking Dish:

    • Transfer the mixture to a 9x13-inch baking dish. Cover with aluminum foil.
  5. Bake:

    • Bake in the preheated oven for about 50 minutes, or until the rice is tender.
  6. Add Cheese:

    • Remove the foil and sprinkle both types of cheese over the top of the casserole. Return to the oven and bake, uncovered, for an additional 10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  7. Serve:

    • Let the casserole sit for a few minutes before serving to allow it to set.

Notes

  • You can add vegetables such as bell peppers or corn to the casserole for added nutrition and flavor.
  • For a spicier version, mix in some chili powder or cayenne pepper, or use spicy tomatoes with green chiles.
