Description

Cherry Pie Bars are a delightful dessert that combines the flavors of a classic cherry pie with the convenience of a bar. With a buttery crust, sweet cherry filling, and a crumbly topping, these bars are perfect for parties, picnics, or any sweet craving. Simple to make and utterly delicious, they will become a favorite in no time.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 3/4 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 (21 oz) can cherry pie filling
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 tsp almond extract
  • 2-3 tbsp milk

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  • In a large bowl, beat the butter and granulated sugar together until creamy.
  • Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix in the vanilla extract.
  • Gradually add the flour and salt, mixing until just combined.
  • Spread 2/3 of the batter evenly into the prepared baking dish.
  • Spread the cherry pie filling over the batter layer.
  • Drop spoonfuls of the remaining batter over the cherry filling.
  • Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together powdered sugar, almond extract, and milk until smooth. Drizzle over the warm bars.
  • Allow the bars to cool completely before cutting into squares.

Notes

  • For a different flavor, you can substitute the cherry pie filling with your favorite fruit filling.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
  • Serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an extra treat.
