Ingredients
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 3/4 cups granulated sugar
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 4 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 (21 oz) can cherry pie filling
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1/2 tsp almond extract
- 2-3 tbsp milk
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
- In a large bowl, beat the butter and granulated sugar together until creamy.
- Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix in the vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the flour and salt, mixing until just combined.
- Spread 2/3 of the batter evenly into the prepared baking dish.
- Spread the cherry pie filling over the batter layer.
- Drop spoonfuls of the remaining batter over the cherry filling.
- Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.
- In a small bowl, whisk together powdered sugar, almond extract, and milk until smooth. Drizzle over the warm bars.
- Allow the bars to cool completely before cutting into squares.
Notes
- For a different flavor, you can substitute the cherry pie filling with your favorite fruit filling.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
