Description

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 4 large eggs
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • Powdered sugar (for dusting)

For the Filling:

 

  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a jelly roll pan with parchment paper.
  • In a bowl, whisk flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  • In a separate bowl, beat eggs and sugar until thick and pale. Add vanilla, oil, and milk.
  • Gently fold in the dry ingredients until combined.
  • Spread the batter evenly in the pan and bake for 10-12 minutes.
  • While warm, roll the cake in a towel dusted with powdered sugar and let it cool completely.
  • Beat heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla until stiff peaks form.
  • Unroll the cake, spread the filling, then re-roll it.

 

  • Chill for at least 1 hour before serving. Dust with powdered sugar if desired.

Notes

  • Rolling the cake while warm prevents cracks.
  • Refrigerate before slicing for clean cuts.
