Description

Crumb-Topped Cherry Pie Bars combine the delightful tartness of cherries with a sweet, buttery crumb topping in an easy-to-make dessert that's perfect for any occasion. These bars offer a fantastic twist on traditional cherry pie.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 cans (21 oz each) cherry pie filling
  • Crumb Topping: 1/2 cup flour, 1/2 cup sugar, 1/4 cup cold butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease a 9x13 inch pan.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla, mixing well.
  3. Combine flour and salt; gradually add to the creamed mixture.
  4. Spread 3 cups of batter into the prepared pan. Spread cherry pie filling over batter.
  5. Drop remaining batter in spoonfuls over the filling.
  6. For the topping, mix flour and sugar; cut in butter until crumbly. Sprinkle over the top.
  7. Bake for 50 minutes or until lightly browned.
