Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 4 medium russet potatoes, thinly sliced
- 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
- 1 cup milk
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 tsp paprika (optional, for garnish)
- Fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a skillet, cook ground beef and chopped onion over medium heat until the beef is browned. Drain excess fat. Season with garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
- In a bowl, whisk together cream of mushroom soup and milk.
- In a greased 9x13-inch baking dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes. Add half of the cooked beef mixture over the potatoes, then pour half of the soup mixture on top. Repeat the layers.
- Cover with foil and bake for 60 minutes, or until potatoes are tender.
- Remove the foil, sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese on top, and bake uncovered for an additional 10-15 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Garnish with paprika and fresh parsley, if desired. Let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- For a creamier sauce, use heavy cream instead of milk.
- You can add extra veggies like corn or green beans between the layers for more texture.
