This easy homemade lasagna recipe is a simple yet delicious way to enjoy a classic Italian dish at home. Ingredients

  • 12 lasagna noodles
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 4 cups marinara sauce
  • 2 cups ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Olive oil for sautéing

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Cook lasagna noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  • In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and garlic, and sauté until softened.
  • Add ground beef and cook until browned. Drain any excess fat.
  • Stir in marinara sauce and let it simmer for 10 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, parsley, salt, and pepper.
  • Spread a layer of meat sauce on the bottom of a baking dish.
  • Place a layer of lasagna noodles over the sauce.
  • Spread a layer of the ricotta mixture over the noodles, then sprinkle with mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
  • Repeat the layers, finishing with meat sauce and a topping of mozzarella and Parmesan.
  • Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, until the cheese is golden and bubbly.
  • Let the lasagna rest for 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • For added flavor, mix some Italian seasoning into the meat sauce.
  • You can prepare the lasagna ahead and refrigerate it until ready to bake.
  • Substitute ground turkey or chicken for a lighter version.
