These flaky apple pie bars are the perfect handheld version of classic apple pie. Made with a buttery, flaky crust and a spiced apple filling, they’re easy to make and perfect for any occasion. Enjoy them warm or cold with a drizzle of caramel or a scoop of ice cream!
Ingredients
- 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 5 cups apples, peeled and diced
- ½ cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- ¼ teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 9x13-inch baking dish with parchment paper.
- In a food processor, pulse flour, butter, sugar, and salt until crumbly. Add egg and vanilla; pulse until dough forms.
- Press half the dough into the prepared baking dish and bake for 15 minutes.
- In a bowl, mix apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, cornstarch, and lemon juice. Spread over baked crust.
- Crumble remaining dough over the apple mixture. Bake for 35–40 minutes or until golden brown.
- Let cool before slicing. Enjoy!
