Description
Dive into the rich and aromatic world of French cuisine with this traditional French Meat Stuffing Recipe. It combines the earthy flavors of meats with herbs and spices, providing a filling that is both flavorful and luxurious.
Ingredients
- 1/2 pound ground pork
- 1/2 pound ground veal (or ground beef)
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, finely chopped
- 1 tablespoon fresh thyme leaves (or 1 teaspoon dried thyme)
- 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 large egg, beaten
- 1/4 cup white wine (optional)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 2 tablespoons olive oil or butter, for sautéing
- 1/4 cup chicken or vegetable broth (optional for added moisture)
Instructions
- Sauté Onions and Garlic: In a skillet, heat the olive oil or butter over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent. Add the minced garlic and cook for another 2 minutes until aromatic.
- Cook the Meats: Add the ground pork and veal (or beef) to the skillet. Cook until browned, breaking up the meat as it cooks.
- Add Herbs and Wine: Stir in the parsley, thyme, salt, and pepper. If you're using wine, add it now and let it reduce until most of the liquid has evaporated.
- Combine with Breadcrumbs and Egg: Remove the skillet from the heat. In a mixing bowl, combine the meat mixture with breadcrumbs and the beaten egg. Mix until everything is well combined. If the mixture seems too dry, you can add chicken or vegetable broth for added moisture.
- Use or Store: The stuffing is now ready to be used in your preferred dishes such as roasted poultry, stuffed vegetables, or other recipes. If you're not using it immediately, allow it to cool and store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two days.
