Ingredients
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
- 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup molasses
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 tbsp ground ginger
- 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp ground cloves
- 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
Instructions
- In a large bowl, beat butter and brown sugar until creamy. Add molasses and egg, mixing well.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg.
- Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until dough forms. Divide dough in half, wrap in plastic, and refrigerate for 1 hour.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Roll out dough on a floured surface to 1/4-inch thickness. Cut into shapes with cookie cutters.
- Place cookies on baking sheets and bake for 8-10 minutes. Cool on a wire rack before decorating.
