Description

This Grilled Cheese Sloppy Joes recipe combines two comfort food favorites: sloppy joes and grilled cheese. With seasoned ground beef, a rich tomato-based sauce, and gooey melted cheese sandwiched between crispy, buttery bread, this dish offers the best of both worlds. It's an easy, satisfying meal perfect for family dinners or casual gatherings.

Ingredients

  • Ground beef
  • Onion, diced
  • Garlic, minced
  • Ketchup
  • Tomato paste
  • Worcestershire sauce
  • Brown sugar
  • Mustard
  • Salt
  • Black pepper
  • Butter
  • Bread (sliced)
  • Cheddar cheese (or American cheese)

Instructions

  • In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef until browned. Drain excess fat.
  • Add onion and garlic to the beef, cooking until softened.
  • Stir in ketchup, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, mustard, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5-7 minutes until thickened.
  • In a separate skillet, butter one side of each bread slice.
  • Place a slice of cheese on the unbuttered side, add a scoop of sloppy joe mixture, and top with another slice of cheese.
  • Place the sandwich in the skillet, buttered side down, and cook until golden brown and crispy, then flip and cook the other side.
  • Serve hot and enjoy!

Notes

  • Feel free to switch up the cheese—try provolone or mozzarella for a different flavor.
  • For added texture, you can toast the bread before assembling the sandwiches.
