Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 4-5 medium potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • Fresh parsley, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large skillet, cook the ground beef and chopped onion over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat and season with garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together the cream of mushroom soup and milk.
  • Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish. Layer half of the sliced potatoes at the bottom of the dish.
  • Spread half of the cooked beef mixture over the potatoes, then pour half of the soup mixture on top. Sprinkle with half of the shredded cheddar cheese.
  • Repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes, beef mixture, and soup mixture.
  • Cover with foil and bake for 50-60 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender.
  • Remove the foil, sprinkle with the remaining cheddar cheese, and bake for another 10-15 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  • Garnish with sour cream and fresh parsley, if desired, and serve hot.

Notes

  • You can substitute cream of chicken soup if preferred.
