Ingredients
- 2 cooked chicken tenders (frozen or pre-cooked)
- 4 slices of bread (sourdough or Italian bread works great)
- 4 slices mozzarella cheese
- ¼ cup marinara sauce
- 2 tbsp grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tbsp butter
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- Fresh basil (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Cook the chicken tenders according to package instructions if using frozen, or reheat pre-cooked chicken.
- Butter one side of each bread slice and sprinkle with garlic powder.
- In a skillet over medium heat, place two slices of bread, buttered side down. Add a slice of mozzarella cheese on each.
- Place the cooked chicken tenders on top of the cheese, then spoon marinara sauce over the chicken. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese and top with another slice of mozzarella.
- Top with the remaining bread slices, buttered side up. Cook for 3-4 minutes per side, pressing down slightly with a spatula, until the bread is golden and crispy and the cheese is melted.
- Remove from skillet, garnish with fresh basil if desired, and serve immediately.
