Description

This lazy chicken Parmesan grilled cheese recipe combines the classic flavors of chicken Parmesan in a quick and easy sandwich. Crispy chicken, marinara sauce, and melted mozzarella are layered between buttery toasted bread, creating a delicious meal in minutes. Perfect for a fast weeknight dinner or lunch, this sandwich delivers cheesy, flavorful goodness with minimal effort.

Ingredients

  • 2 cooked chicken tenders (frozen or pre-cooked)
  • 4 slices of bread (sourdough or Italian bread works great)
  • 4 slices mozzarella cheese
  • ¼ cup marinara sauce
  • 2 tbsp grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • Fresh basil (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  • Cook the chicken tenders according to package instructions if using frozen, or reheat pre-cooked chicken.
  • Butter one side of each bread slice and sprinkle with garlic powder.
  • In a skillet over medium heat, place two slices of bread, buttered side down. Add a slice of mozzarella cheese on each.
  • Place the cooked chicken tenders on top of the cheese, then spoon marinara sauce over the chicken. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese and top with another slice of mozzarella.
  • Top with the remaining bread slices, buttered side up. Cook for 3-4 minutes per side, pressing down slightly with a spatula, until the bread is golden and crispy and the cheese is melted.
  • Remove from skillet, garnish with fresh basil if desired, and serve immediately.

Notes

  • You can substitute provolone cheese for mozzarella for a different flavor.
  • For extra crunch, add a sprinkle of Italian seasoning or red pepper flakes before grilling.
  • Serve with extra marinara sauce for dipping.
