Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour

  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ cup buttermilk

 

  • ½ cup hot coffee


Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour an 8-inch cake pan.
  • In a bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  • Add vegetable oil, eggs, vanilla, and buttermilk. Mix until smooth.
  • Stir in hot coffee until batter is well combined.
  • Pour batter into the prepared pan and bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.

 

  • Let cool before frosting or serving.

Notes

  • For extra richness, top with chocolate ganache or fudge frosting.
  • Substitute buttermilk with milk + 1 tsp vinegar if needed.
