Description

This Mushroom Asiago Chicken recipe features tender chicken breasts smothered in a creamy mushroom and Asiago cheese sauce. Perfect for weeknight dinners or special occasions, this dish is loaded with flavor and pairs well with pasta, rice, or vegetables. Keywords: mushroom Asiago chicken, creamy chicken recipe, cheesy skillet chicken.

Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 cup sliced mushrooms (button or cremini)
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • ½ cup chicken broth
  • ¾ cup grated Asiago cheese
  • ½ tsp dried thyme
  • ½ tsp paprika
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  • Season chicken breasts with salt, pepper, paprika, and thyme.
  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Sear chicken breasts for 4-5 minutes on each side, until golden brown and cooked through. Remove chicken from skillet and set aside.
  • In the same skillet, melt butter and add mushrooms. Sauté for 4-5 minutes until tender and golden. Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  • Stir in heavy cream and chicken broth, scraping up any browned bits from the skillet. Let the sauce simmer for 2-3 minutes to thicken slightly.
  • Add Asiago cheese to the sauce, stirring until melted and creamy. Season with additional salt and pepper if needed.
  • Return the chicken breasts to the skillet, spooning the sauce over them. Simmer for 3-4 minutes until the chicken is warmed through.
  • Garnish with fresh parsley and serve immediately.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add a splash of white wine to the sauce before simmering.
  • Serve with pasta, mashed potatoes, or steamed vegetables for a complete meal.
  • Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated gently on the stovetop.
