Description

Unleash the flavors of thinly sliced, tender beef cooked swiftly in a savory stir-fry sauce. Perfect for a quick weeknight dinner, this shaved beef recipe will become a staple in your culinary rotation.

Ingredients

  1. 1 lb shaved beef (thinly sliced beef)
  2. 2 tbsp vegetable oil or sesame oil
  3. 1 bell pepper, thinly sliced
  4. 1 onion, thinly sliced
  5. 2 cloves garlic, minced
  6. 1 thumb-sized piece of ginger, minced
  7. 3 tbsp soy sauce
  8. 2 tbsp oyster sauce or hoisin sauce
  9. 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  10. 1 tsp sugar or honey
  11. Optional: Green onions and sesame seeds for garnish
  12. Optional: Red pepper flakes for heat

Instructions

  1. Prep the Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, rice vinegar, and sugar. Set aside.
  2. Cook Beef: Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat. Once hot, add the shaved beef in batches, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan. Cook quickly until just browned, then remove and set aside.
  3. Veggies: In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of oil. Stir in the sliced bell pepper and onion. Cook for about 2-3 minutes until they begin to soften. Add the garlic and ginger, cooking for another minute until fragrant.
  4. Combine: Return the cooked beef to the skillet. Pour the prepared sauce over the beef and veggies, stirring well to coat. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until everything is heated through.
  5. Serve: Serve the shaved beef stir-fry over rice or noodles. Garnish with green onions, sesame seeds, and optionally, red pepper flakes.
