Ingredients
- 12 Skinner lasagna noodles (or similar brand)
- 1 lb ground beef or ground Italian sausage
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp dried basil
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- 2 cups ricotta cheese
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
- 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions
- Prepare the Noodles: Cook the lasagna noodles according to the package directions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- Make the Meat Sauce: In a large skillet, cook the ground beef or sausage over medium heat until browned. Add the onions and garlic, cooking until the onions are translucent. Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 20 minutes.
- Prepare the Ricotta Mixture: In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, parsley, salt, and pepper.
- Layer the Lasagna: In a 9x13 inch baking dish, spread a little meat sauce on the bottom. Layer with 3-4 lasagna noodles, more meat sauce, a third of the ricotta mixture, a third of the mozzarella, and a sprinkle of Parmesan. Repeat this layering two more times.
- Bake: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Cover the lasagna with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 25 minutes, or until bubbly and golden.
- Serve: Let the lasagna cool for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

- For added depth of flavor, consider mixing half ground beef and half Italian sausage.
