Ingredients

  • 1 loaf French bread, cubed
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, sliced
  • 1 cup fresh blueberries
  • 1 cup fresh raspberries
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 8 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)
  • Maple syrup for serving (optional)

Instructions

  • Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish. Spread half of the cubed French bread evenly in the dish.
  • In a medium bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, sliced strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries. Mix gently.
  • Spread the berry and cream cheese mixture over the bread layer in the baking dish.
  • Top with the remaining bread cubes, ensuring an even layer.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, heavy cream, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt.
  • Pour the egg mixture evenly over the bread and berries. Press down gently to ensure the bread absorbs the liquid.
  • Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight.
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Remove the plastic wrap and bake the casserole for 45-50 minutes, or until the top is golden and the center is set.
  • Let the casserole cool for a few minutes before dusting with powdered sugar, if desired.
  • Serve warm with maple syrup.
