Enjoy the delicious blend of beef, pasta, and creamy gravy all in one dish!

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef (or pork)
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 small onion, finely diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 tsp allspice
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 12 oz pasta (penne or rigatoni)
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella or Swiss cheese
  • Fresh parsley (optional for garnish)

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a baking dish and set aside.
  • In a bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, milk, onion, garlic, allspice, nutmeg, salt, and pepper. Form into small meatballs.
  • Heat a skillet over medium heat and cook meatballs until browned on all sides. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
  • In the same skillet, melt butter. Stir in flour to make a roux, then gradually whisk in beef broth and heavy cream. Add Worcestershire sauce and let the sauce simmer until thickened, about 5 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, cook pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  • Combine cooked pasta, meatballs, and sauce. Transfer to the prepared baking dish and top with shredded cheese.
  • Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.

Notes

  • For a shortcut, use frozen Swedish meatballs and jarred sauce.
  • Add a dash of nutmeg to enhance the flavor of the cream sauce.
