Description

Belle's hamburger buns recipe produces soft and fluffy buns that are perfect for homemade burgers. Made with simple ingredients, these buns are easy to prepare and are a delightful addition to any meal. Whether for a barbecue or a casual dinner, these homemade buns will elevate your burgers to the next level.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup warm water (110°F)
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 large egg
  • 3 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 2 tablespoons milk (for brushing)

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, dissolve the sugar in the warm water. Sprinkle the yeast on top and let it sit for about 5 minutes, until frothy.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the yeast mixture, egg, and softened butter.
  3. Mix until a dough forms. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for about 10 minutes, until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  5. Punch down the dough and divide it into 8 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a ball and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  6. Flatten each ball slightly and cover with a damp cloth. Let rise for another 30-45 minutes, until puffy.
  7. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Brush the tops of the buns with milk.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-18 minutes, until golden brown. Cool on a wire rack before slicing.

Notes

  • For a shiny top, you can brush the buns with an egg wash instead of milk.
  • These buns can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days, or frozen for longer storage.
