Description

This Cheesy Ground Beef and Potatoes recipe is a hearty and delicious one-pan dinner. Layers of seasoned ground beef, thinly sliced potatoes, and melted cheese come together in this ultimate comfort food dish. It's an easy, family-friendly meal perfect for any night of the week!

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 4 cups thinly sliced potatoes (about 3 medium potatoes)
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 1 tsp dried parsley (optional)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  • Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula.
  • Stir in diced onion, garlic, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Cook until onion softens, about 3-4 minutes. Remove from heat.
  • In the prepared baking dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes evenly. Sprinkle with half of the cheddar cheese and half of the cooked beef mixture.
  • Repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes, cheddar cheese, and beef.
  • In a bowl, whisk together heavy cream and beef broth. Pour evenly over the casserole.
  • Top with mozzarella cheese and cover with foil. Bake for 40 minutes.
  • Remove foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is golden and bubbly, and the potatoes are fork-tender.
  • Garnish with dried parsley if desired, and serve warm.

Notes

  • Use a mandoline to slice the potatoes evenly for faster and even cooking.
  • Substitute ground beef with ground turkey or chicken for a lighter version.
  • Add a pinch of chili flakes for extra heat!
