Description

Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (preferably Italian-style)
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp dried Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (for topping)
  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • Fresh basil leaves (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • Place chicken breasts between two pieces of plastic wrap and pound them to an even thickness, about 1/2 inch thick.
  • Set up a breading station: Place flour in one dish, beaten eggs in another, and a mixture of breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper in a third dish.
  • Dredge each chicken breast in flour, then dip in eggs, and finally coat in the breadcrumb mixture. Press gently to adhere.
  • Heat olive oil in a large oven-safe skillet over medium heat. Sear the chicken breasts for 2-3 minutes per side, until golden brown.
  • Spoon marinara sauce over each piece of chicken, then top with mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
  • Transfer the skillet to the oven and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  • Garnish with fresh basil if desired, and serve hot.

  • For extra crunch, use panko breadcrumbs instead of regular breadcrumbs.
