Description

I made these the day before. I was hesitant to use so much cool whip, but you only need three ingredients and they taste just like the Three Musketeers! I'll cook it again for the holidays. Almost too delicious!

Ingredients

  1. 1 (8 oz) tub Cool Whip, thawed
  2. 1 (12 oz) bag semi-sweet chocolate chips (or white chocolate chips for a variation)
  3. 1/2 cup powdered sugar (optional, for extra sweetness)
  4. 1 tsp vanilla extract (optional)
  5. Sprinkles, nuts, or crushed cookies for topping (optional)

Instructions

  1. Melt the Chocolate: In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the chocolate chips. Do this in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until the chocolate is completely melted and smooth.
  2. Combine with Cool Whip: In a large bowl, combine the melted chocolate with the Cool Whip. If you’re using powdered sugar and vanilla extract, add them as well. Mix until everything is well blended.
  3. Prepare Pan: Line an 8x8 inch baking pan with parchment paper or wax paper for easy removal.
  4. Spread the Mixture: Pour the Cool Whip and chocolate mixture into the prepared pan. Spread it out evenly with a spatula.
  5. Add Toppings: If you're using toppings like sprinkles, nuts, or crushed cookies, sprinkle them over the top.
  6. Chill: Place the pan in the refrigerator and chill for at least 2 hours, or until the candy is set and firm.
  7. Cut and Serve: Once set, lift the candy out of the pan using the edges of the parchment paper. Cut into squares or desired shapes. Serve chilled.

Notes

  1. Quality of Ingredients: Since the recipe has few ingredients, use high-quality chocolate chips and a good brand of Cool Whip for the best flavor.
  2. Melting Chocolate: When melting chocolate in the microwave, do it in short bursts and stir in between. Chocolate can burn easily, so it’s important to melt it gently.
  3. Mixing with Cool Whip: Ensure that the Cool Whip is thawed but still cold before mixing it with the melted chocolate. If it's too warm, it might not blend well, affecting the texture.
  4. Smooth Consistency: Mix the Cool Whip and melted chocolate until you get a smooth, consistent mixture without lumps. Be gentle to keep the mixture airy.
  5. Optional Sweetness: The recipe is customizable in terms of sweetness. The powdered sugar is optional and can be adjusted or omitted based on your preference and the sweetness of the chocolate used.
