Description
This Ham and Potato Casserole is a warm, comforting dish featuring layers of potatoes and ham in a creamy, cheesy sauce—a family favorite for any occasion.
Ingredients
- 2 pounds potatoes, thinly sliced
- 1 pound cooked ham, cubed
- 1 onion, thinly sliced
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 can (10.5 ounces) cream of mushroom soup
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
- Layer half of the sliced potatoes at the bottom of the dish, followed by half of the sliced onion, half of the ham, and half of the cheddar cheese. Repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes, onion, ham, and cheese.
- In a bowl, mix together the cream of mushroom soup, milk, sour cream, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Pour this mixture evenly over the casserole.
- Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 60 minutes. Uncover, sprinkle with paprika and Parmesan cheese, and bake for an additional 20-30 minutes or until the potatoes are tender and the top is golden brown.
- Garnish with chopped parsley before serving.
Notes
- For a crunchier top, add a layer of breadcrumbs mixed with melted butter over the Parmesan cheese for the last 20 minutes of baking.
- Substitute cream of mushroom soup with cream of chicken or celery for a different flavor profile.
