Description

Ingredients

  1. 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  2. 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  3. 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  4. 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  5. 2 large eggs
  6. 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  7. 1 teaspoon baking soda
  8. 1/2 teaspoon salt
  9. 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
  10. 1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla extract until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, stirring just until combined.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips and nuts (if using).
  7. Drop by rounded tablespoons onto a parchment paper-lined baking sheet.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until edges are golden but the center is still soft.
  9. Remove from oven and allow to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
