This mozzarella stuffed meatloaf recipe features a tender beef mixture filled with gooey mozzarella cheese, making it a comforting and irresistible dinner option.
Ingredients
- 1 ½ lbs ground beef
- ½ lb ground pork
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 6 oz mozzarella cheese block, cut into sticks
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 large eggs
- ½ cup milk
- 3 tbsp ketchup
- 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp dried basil
- Salt and pepper to taste
For Topping:
- ½ cup ketchup
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a loaf pan or line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, onion, garlic, eggs, milk, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
- Spread half the meat mixture into the prepared pan or shape it into a loaf on the baking sheet.
- Lay the mozzarella sticks in the center, lengthwise, and cover with the remaining meat mixture. Seal the edges to encase the cheese completely.
- In a small bowl, mix ketchup, brown sugar, and Worcestershire sauce. Spread evenly over the top of the meatloaf.
- Bake for 50–60 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C). Let rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
