Description

This Simple BBQ Ribs recipe is perfect for beginners and seasoned grill masters alike. The ribs are slow-cooked to perfection, featuring a homemade BBQ sauce that adds a rich, smoky flavor. Whether you're cooking for a casual weekend BBQ or a special occasion, these ribs will be the highlight of any meal.

Ingredients

  • 2 racks of pork ribs (about 3-4 pounds each)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 cups of your favorite BBQ sauce
  • Optional dry rub (combination of paprika, brown sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper)

Instructions

  1. Prep the Ribs:

    • Remove the membrane from the back of the ribs by loosening it with a knife and pulling it off; this helps the seasoning absorb better.
    • Season both sides of the ribs with salt and pepper, and if using, your chosen dry rub.
  2. Pre-cook the Ribs (Optional but recommended for tenderness):

    • Preheat your oven to 275°F (135°C).
    • Wrap the ribs tightly in aluminum foil and place them on a baking sheet.
    • Bake in the preheated oven for 2 to 2.5 hours, or until the ribs are tender but not falling apart.
  3. Grill the Ribs:

    • Preheat your grill to medium heat.
    • Remove the ribs from the foil and brush them generously with BBQ sauce.
    • Grill the ribs for 10-15 minutes on each side, applying more BBQ sauce as you turn them, until they are nicely caramelized and charred in spots.
  4. Serve:

    • Allow the ribs to rest for a few minutes after removing them from the grill to let the juices redistribute.
    • Cut between the bones to separate the ribs and serve with additional BBQ sauce on the side.

Notes

  • You can adjust the dry rub ingredients based on your taste preferences. More sugar will give a sweeter crust, while more cayenne will add heat.
  • For an even smokier flavor, consider adding wood chips to your grill or using a smoker if you have one.
  • Prep Time: 15 minutes (plus marinating if you choose to apply a rub ahead of time)
  • Cook Time: 3 hours (including oven pre-cooking and grilling)
