Ingredients

  • 3 lbs beef brisket
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp paprika
  • 1 tbsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 2 cups BBQ sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1/2 cup beef broth

Instructions

  1. Trim excess fat from brisket.
  2. In a small bowl, mix brown sugar, paprika, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Rub this seasoning mix all over the brisket.
  3. Place the seasoned brisket in the slow cooker.
  4. Mix the BBQ sauce and beef broth together and pour over the brisket.
  5. Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours or on high for 4-5 hours, until the brisket is very tender.
  6. Remove the brisket from the slow cooker and let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing against the grain.
  7. Skim the fat from the sauce left in the slow cooker and serve it with the brisket.

Notes

  • For a smokier flavor, add a few drops of liquid smoke to the BBQ sauce mixture.
  • The brisket can be browned in a skillet before slow cooking to add depth to the flavor.
