Ingredients
- 3 lbs beef brisket
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tbsp paprika
- 1 tbsp salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 2 cups BBQ sauce (store-bought or homemade)
- 1/2 cup beef broth
Instructions
- Trim excess fat from brisket.
- In a small bowl, mix brown sugar, paprika, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Rub this seasoning mix all over the brisket.
- Place the seasoned brisket in the slow cooker.
- Mix the BBQ sauce and beef broth together and pour over the brisket.
- Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours or on high for 4-5 hours, until the brisket is very tender.
- Remove the brisket from the slow cooker and let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing against the grain.
- Skim the fat from the sauce left in the slow cooker and serve it with the brisket.
Notes
- For a smokier flavor, add a few drops of liquid smoke to the BBQ sauce mixture.
- The brisket can be browned in a skillet before slow cooking to add depth to the flavor.
