Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/4 cups sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup milk
  • Topping:
    • 2 tbsp sugar
    • 1 tsp ground cinnamon


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla.
  4. Gradually mix in the dry ingredients alternately with milk, starting and ending with the flour mixture.
  5. Pour batter into the prepared pan.
  6. Mix the topping sugar and cinnamon, and sprinkle over the batter.
  7. Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
