Description
The best hamburger stroganoff recipe combines ground beef, mushrooms, and egg noodles in a creamy, savory sauce for the ultimate comfort food!
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 2 cups mushrooms, sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- 8 oz egg noodles
- 2 tbsp butter
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Cook egg noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet, brown ground beef over medium heat. Drain excess grease and set the beef aside.
- In the same skillet, melt butter and sauté onions and mushrooms until softened, about 5 minutes. Add garlic and cook for 1 minute.
- Sprinkle flour over the vegetables and stir well. Cook for 1-2 minutes to remove the raw flour taste.
- Slowly add beef broth, stirring constantly to create a smooth sauce. Bring to a simmer.
- Stir in sour cream, Worcestershire sauce, and paprika. Mix well.
- Add the cooked ground beef back into the skillet and stir to combine. Simmer for 5 minutes to thicken.
- Toss the cooked egg noodles with the stroganoff sauce, or serve the sauce over the noodles. Garnish with parsley.
Notes
- Substitute sour cream with Greek yogurt for a healthier option.
- Add frozen peas or spinach for extra veggies.
- For a gluten-free version, use cornstarch instead of flour and gluten-free noodles.
